PURPOSE:To set a core in a casting mold without breaking the same and to enable continuous casting by providing an elastic member to a stationary plate to be set with the core and providing an evacuating pipe connected to an evacuating device to the hole penetrating through the stationary plate and the elastic member. CONSTITUTION:A core 3 forming the hollow part of a piston is placed on the home position of a receiving base 10 and a core holder 4 integral with a moving member 9 is lowered to the home position on the base 10. An elastic seal 7 of the holder 4 is fitted tightly to the core 3 and the air of a sealing surface 7a is sucked through an evacuating pipe 11 to attract the core 3. The holder 4 is then moved to place correctly the core 3 on a metallic mold 12 for the core and the evacuation is stopped. The core print of the core 3 is matched with the recess of the mold 12 and the metallic mold for a piston is formed by the ascending of the holder 4 and the movement of a master mold 14 and a cope 15. A molten metal 16 is cast into the metallic mold. The core is thus set into the casting mold without damaging the same and continuous casting is made possible. |
