PURPOSE:A novel type of antioxidant that is represented by a specific structural formula, thus showing antioxidizing effect over a wide range of temperature, when it is added to a variety of synthetic resins. CONSTITUTION:The objective antioxidant is composed of a compound of formula I [R1-R4 are H, substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, OH, halogen; when n is O, at least one of R1-R4 are H; when n is 1, at least one of R1, R2 is H; R5-R8 are identical to R1-R4 and they may incorporate to form a ring; X is O, (substituted) methylene; n is 0, 1] such as a tetralone of formula II (R9, R10 are identical to R1-R4, 3-isochromanone of formula III. The antioxidant is added to a variety of synthetic resins, preferably 0.01-3wt%.
