PURPOSE:To certainly detect the abrasion advance state of a cylinder liner, by successively forming a metal layer comprising a material different from that of a cylinder liner main body and a piston ring slide surface to the inner peripheral surface of said main body and detecting the metal powder in lubricant. CONSTITUTION:Recessed parts 4 are provided to a cylinder liner main body 3 in a thrust side and an anti-thrust side in the vicinity of a first piston ring 2a in such a state that a piston 1 is positioned at an upper dead point and pellet shaped abraded powder generators 5 are soldered to said recessed parts 4 by a solder material 6. The abraded powder generators 5 begin to abrade along with the parts other than the recessed part 4 of the cylinder liner main body 3 corresponding to the motion of the piston 1, that is, a piston ring 2. Each of the abraded powder generators 5 is formed by successively laminating a metal comprising a material different from that of the cylinder liner main body 3 and the piston ring 2 in the radius direction and, if metal elements of adjacent layers are different when abrasion advanced up to the depth of each constituted layer, abraded powders different in characteristics are generated. By this method, the abrasion advance state of the cylinder liner main body can be known. |
