NEW MATERIAL:A benzotriazole compound of formula. USE:Intermediate for the synthesis of development retarder-releasing type coupler. When incorporated in an emulsion, having great development-retarding effect; also usable as anti-blushing agent. PREPARATION:For example, 5-aminobenzotriazole hydrochloride, benzoyl chloride triethylamine and acetonitrile are mixed and stirred at 85 deg.C for 2hr followed by cooling with water, the resulting crystals being collected, washed with water followed by recrystallization with ethanol-water mixed solvent.
