PURPOSE:To approximate the image pickup characteristics of a single plate type color camera which uses a complementary color type color filter array to ideal image pickup characteristic and improve the tone by using a trimming filter to wavelength range having cut-off characteristic to decrease transmittivity. CONSTITUTION:The trimming filter has a trap almost at intersections of spectral characteristics of R and G, and B and G, e.g. a 570mm. and a 490mm. wavelength and also has the transmittivity reduced to about 50%, and this filter is interposed in the optical path of the image pickup device with the color filter array. Consequently, when, for instance, the trimming filter reduced to about 50% in transmittivity activates the color filter array at the intersections of spactral characteristics of R and G, B and G, the quantity of light is decreased by the trapping operation at intersections of characteristics, i.e. 490 and 570mm. wavelengths and the transmissivity at the intersection part is reduced almost to 1/2 (=25%). Consequently, spectral characteristics of red, green, and blue become sharp, purity with a high degree of saturation is obtained easily, and a color image with good tone is obtained. |
