PURPOSE:To enable reuse of washed waste liquor and to obtain inexpensively high-quality pectin useful for jam, etc., by washing pectin precipitate with sulfuric acid-containing washing solution, neutralizing the separated washed waste liquor with Ca(OH)2, or Ba(OH)2. CONSTITUTION:A salt of metal such as Al, Cu, etc. is added to an extracted solution of pectin extracted from plant pericarp containing pectin with sulfuric acid, etc., the prepared pectin precipitate is washed with a mixed solution of sulfuric acid aqueous solution-water miscible organic solvent (e.g., methanol, TFH, etc.) in a ratio not to dissolve it, the separated washed solution is neutralized with with Ca(OH)2 and/or Ba(OH)2, the prepared solid material is removed, the prepared mixed solution of water and water miscible organic solvent is blended with sulfuric acid, reused for washing of the pectin precipitate, to purify pectin. A volume ratio of the washing solution of sulfuric acid solution/water- miscible organic solvent is preferably 1/0.65-1/20, and an amount of the washing solution used is preferably 1-3pts.wt. based on 1pt.wt. pectin precipitate. |
