PURPOSE:To contract the gap length of a data format and to increase the capacity of storage by changing the timing of erasing operation at the inner and outer peripheries of a magnetic disc in accordance with the position of a magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:A write gate signal W/G is inputted to a writing circuit 63 through a write data WD and a gate circuit 65 and the WD is recorded in a recording medium by an R/W core 610. On the other hand, a head position detecting circuit 67 detects the position of the magnetic head and applies an address to a read-only memory (ROM)66. The ROM66 outputs control information for a gate circuit 65 corresponding to the head position and the gate circuit 65 inputs an erase gap (E/G) signal to an erasing circuit 64 in accordance with the timing, so that an erasing core 611 executes tunnel erasing operation. Consequently, the gap part is contracted and the storage capacity is increased. |
