PURPOSE:To obtain a gas diffusion electrode with excellent conductivity and water repellency by mixing the longer carbon fiber and fluororesin than the thickness dimensions of the gas diffusion layer, producing a thin layer whose carbon fiber is aligned in a fixed direction, laminating a number of thin films, pressurizing, baking them, and cutting them on the surface intersecting with the longer direction of carbon fiber at preset thicknesses. CONSTITUTION:Dry fluoresin powder and carbon fiber are mixed and the inner part of a square frame is filled with them. The thickness of the frame is set to smaller dimensions than the length of carbon fiber and the top of the frame is worn out by a rod and such. The frame is made flat to the full and the longer direction of carbon fiber in a mixture faces to the flat surface direction of the frame. Another frame with the same dimensions is overlapped on this frame. For example, 200 frames filled with the mixture are piled sequentially by repeating the same operation. Then the frame is pressurized by a press mold and is heated and baked at 300-350 deg.C at the same time. After that, the frame is removed and the mixture layer is integrated. A block is formed and is cut on the surface intersecting with the longer direction of carbon fiber at the thickness of the glass diffusion layer. |
