PURPOSE:To clean a magnetic tape automatically and to remove magnetic powder or the like precisely by arranging cleaning members to be contacted with the magnetic surface of the tape on the way of the traveling system of the magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION:The cleaning members 17, 18 are pivotted between guide pins 10, 11 and guide members 8, 9 in a case 1 and cleaning parts 17a, 18a are arranged so as to be contacted with the magnetic surface of the magnetic tape 4. Ratchet parts 17b, 18b rotating the members 17, 18 by a prescribed angle are exposed from the square holes 1b, 1c of the case 1 to the external. When the cassette is inserted into the case 1, a driving lever 23 is engaged with the ratchet part 17b and the member 17 is rotated in the clockwise direction by a prescribed angle, so that cleaning is executed always at a new surface of the member 17. Consequently, magnetic powder or dust can be precisely removed and satisfactory head touch can be attained.
