PURPOSE:To obtain a composite blank for spectacle frames causing no stripping by successively cladding Ti or a Ti alloy as a core material with an intermediate layer of Ni or an Ni alloy and an outer layer of a corrosion-resistant metal to improve the bonding strength of the corrosion-resistant metal to the core material. CONSTITUTION:Ti or a Ti alloy as a core material 1 is successively clad with an intermediate layer 7 of Ni or an Ni alloy and an outer layer of a material 2 having high corrosion resistance and superior brazability to obtain a composite blank 3' for spectacle frames. This blank is rolled, and the resulting plates 4' are brazed to each other at 600-900 deg.C in the air with a brazing filler metal 5 such as Ag-Cu. Ni in the layers 7 inhibit the diffusion of Ti in the core materials 1 and prevent the formation of an intermetallic compound between the materials 1, 2, so a composite blank for light-weight spectacle frames causing no stripping after brazing and having superior durability and function is obtd. |
