PURPOSE:To obtain the overall effect of preventing fouling with only local painting by applying self-grinding type paint for preventing fouling to portions in which stream around a hull is retarded in comparison with ship speed, that is the edge of a bow and a bilge keel portion etc., in addition to the hull to which painting for preventing rust and fouling has already been applied. CONSTITUTION:Painting for preventing rust is carried out over the whole outer surface under the draft line of a hull outer plate and painting for preventing fouling is carried out on the whole surface on which painting for preventing rust has already been carried out. Further, painting to reinforce the prevention of fouling is locally carried out to portions where stream around the hull is retarded in comparison with ship speed, that is, the edge of a bow and the side (d) in the neighborhood of the bow, the end (e) of a stern and the side (f) in the neighborhood of the stern and a ship's bottom g in the stern side, a bilge keel and the side (c) in the neighborhood of the bilge keel by the use of self-grinding type paint for preventing fouling. Mixture of polymer composed of tributyl tin and acrylic resin and copper suboxide is used as the self-grinding type paint for preventing fouling. It is possible to obtain the overall effect of preventing fouling with only local painting.
