PURPOSE:To prevent an elevation driving mechanism from being contaminated with flaw detection water which overflows from a flaw detection head which abuts on the top and reverse surface sides of a rectangular billet by arranging the elevation driving mechanism for the flaw detection head above the rectangular billet. CONSTITUTION:A flaw detecting mechanism 24 conveys the rectangular billet 1 by a conveying device 22 lengthwise as shown by arrow 21 and brings the flaw detection head 23 into contact with the rectangular billet from below on the conveying device in series to perform flaw detection. Those mechanisms are fitted to the frame 30 of a moving carriage 29 mounted movably on rails 28a and 28b on beams 27a and 27b in an H shape, etc., arranged at right angles to the conveyance direction of the rectangular billet 1 while stradding the conveying device 22 for the rectangular billet 1. Consequently, no water overflows from the flaw detection heat to mechanisms such as the flaw detecting mechanism and moving carriage and none of a scale, dust, etc., which are peeled off sticks thereupon. |
