PURPOSE:To set easily the gap of a magnetic head by obtaining the coincidence between the side of the gap and the outer diameter of a glass bead. CONSTITUTION:The resin 4 containing glass beads 3 having approximately equal diameter as a prescribed gap size is filled into a gap 2 of a magnetic head 1. This resin 4 is obtained by mixing in 1:1wt% the glass beads made of soda lime glass mixed with alumina or magnesia with mesh arrangement of grains with epoxy resin. Then such resin 4 is filled into a gap part 1a of the head 1. The bead 3 has extremely high chemical stability and is extremely uniform with <=2mum variance in the form of a ball of a 70mum diameter. Furthermore the head 1 is least injured by the tape driving owing to the 6.5 old Mohs' hardness of the bead 3. The gap size of the head 1 is decided by the diameter of the head 3 after hardening the resin 4. |
