PURPOSE:To permit a proper expression of tone by arranging heating elements that correspond to a bit of each unit of picture informations and have their areas successively increased by twofold for each time the unit is taken up one place, and that do not overlap mutually within one picture element, at intervals of integral number times of one picture element. CONSTITUTION:First of all, the heating element 4 which correspond to the bit of the lowest unit is heated and transferred, and then, a thermal head 3 is moved in the direction A as much as one piclture element and the heating element 5 which correspond to the bit of the next unit is heated and transferred and, then, heating and transferring is continued successively to the heating element 9 by taking up the unit one place each time, resulting in printing of almost whole of the area of one picture element as indicated by the illustration of printing 11. Accordingly, by selectively heating each heating element 4-9, corresponding to the digital signal converted from video signal, the printing which expresses the tones of the ratio of areas of 64=2<6>tone becomes feasible. Thus, proper tones, no color shears in printing and reduction in printing time become capable of being effected. |
