PURPOSE:To provide a refrigerator oil compsn. having improved viscosity index, solubility in Flon regrigerant and sealing properties, prepd. by adding alpha-olefin to a mineral oil or alkylbenzene for adjustment to a specified viscosity index. CONSTITUTION:The refrigerator oil compsn. is prepd. by adding 50wt% or lower alpha-olefin oligomer to a base lubricating oil consisting of a mineral oil or its blend with alkylbenzene for adjustment of viscosity index of the resultant mixed lubricating oil to 110 or higher. For long-term stability, it is preferable to add each 3.0wt% or lower compd. with an epoxy bond such as phenyl glycidyl ether, phosphorus-based extreme-pressure additive such as tricresyl phosphate and phenol type stabilizer to oxidation such as 2,6-di-tert-butyl P-cresol. When necessary, additives for lubricating oil, exp. defoamer and rust inhibitor, may also be added.
