The paper sheet folding cylinders, whose surfaces consist of an elastomer and a metal section, have a completely smooth surface on which the metal and the elastomer are detached both in a longitudinal and in a circumferential direction and the sections of the surface which are made of metal are arranged at equal intervals in rows which are parallel in both a longitudinal and a circumferential direction.
