Pole reversal on three-phase motors, using capacitors for up to 3 rotation speeds in the ratio 1:3:5. In contrast to the main application, however, no capacitors are provided for Stage 1. Using the capacitors, balanced three-phase operation becomes possible for stages 3 and 5, but for only one operating point. Normal, balanced three-phase operation is provided in stage 1. Advantageous applications include, for example: 2/6/10 or 2/6 pole three-phase motors, or 2/6 pole single-phase motors. Only one capacitor is required for the 2/6 or even the 4/12 pole three-phase motors, which capacitor can also be used for stage 1 in single-phase operation, in a Steinmetz circuit.
