PURPOSE:To product a slider hardly causing damage to a head and a disc by increasing the rail width of the inner circumferential side more than the rail width of the outer circumferential side so as to keep the same floating amount. CONSTITUTION:A disc 4 is turned in the direction of the arrow and a magnetic head 1 is provided at the backward blow side. Then the rail 6a is positioned at the outer circumferential side of the disc 4 and the rail 6b is placed at the inner circumferential side of the disc 4. The width Bb of the rail 6b of the inner circumferential side is increased more than the width Ba of the rail 6a of the outer circumferential side. There is a characteristic that the floating amount (g) is larger as the speed of a disc face is higher and the rail width is wider. Through the construction above, the width Bb of the rail of the inner circumferential side having lower circumferential velocity is wider than the width Ba of the rail 6a of the outer circumferential side having a higher circumferential velocity in the slider 2, then the floating amount gb of the rail 6b is equal to the floating amount ga of the rail 6a. |
