PURPOSE:To improve air permeability and accuracy by packing the bundle of metallic fibers into a metallic flask in such a way that one end of the bundle forms a cavity surface and the other end forms a back surface. CONSTITUTION:A metallic flask 4 and a pattern plate 1 which are clamped to one body are heated to expand so that the aperture thereof is kept forcibly opened. A bundle of metallic fibers 6 in a guide flask 5 is supplied longitudinally into the flask 4 and is oscillated by an oscillating device to pack the bundle into the flask 4. When the plate 1 is cooled upon completion of packing, the flask 4 shrinks to tighten and fix the bundle of the fibers 6. The bundle projecting from the top surface of the flask 4 is cut away and the plate 1 is detached from the flask 4, by which a metallic mold 8 formed with a cavity surface 7 is obtd. There are clearances among the fibers 6 to permit easy discharging of the gas generated during pouring. The possibility for generating a defective product is eliminated and the manufacture of the metallic mold is facilitated. |
