PURPOSE:To disperse light, to prevent light leakage and to attain an optical control element having high resolution by forming the surface of a substrate on the periphery of an optical shutter part arranged between counter electrodes formed on a transparent substrate having an electro-optical offect like a non-mirror surface. CONSTITUTION:A common electrode 11 and a voltage impressing electrode group 12 are formed on a PLZT plate 10 to be the transparent substrate having the electro-optical effect and the surface of the substrate on the periphery of the optical shutter part 13 arranged between the electrode pair is clouded by etching to form the PLZT surface 14 consisting of the non-mirror surface. When a voltage is impressed to the electrode group 12, complex refraction is generated in the substrate and light is passed through the shutter part 13, but the light is dispersed on said etching surface and the PLZT light transmittivity is reduced down to 1/10 by the dispersing effect to prevent light leakage. Consequently, high resolution more than 10dots/mm. which is ordinarily difficult to obtain can be obtained and the optical control element having high resolution can be attained. |
