The invention relates to a ribbed sheet-metal jacket, especially the housing of an electrical rotating machine, which has cooling ribs on its external circumference, which cooling ribs are formed by bending sheet metal. The invention has the object of reducing the energy and labour cost required for production, reducing the cost of and speeding up manufacture, and achieving a larger batch size in manufacture. This is achieved in that the sheet-metal bends in the rib space on the internal surface of the jacket are connected to one another by means of a non-continuous longitudinal seam.
