Control and signalling system which uses the lighting circuit as a signal transmission channel and for power supply, the transmission times of a number of transmitters simultaneously connected to the transmission channel and forming periodic signal sources being selected differently in terms of their repetition frequency and/or duty ratio in such a way that in each case, after no more than a few clock cycles of each signal source for a time period sufficient for signal identification, the latter's signal is not combined on the transmission channel with a signal of a different signal source.
