PURPOSE:To remove efficiently and selectively impurities from a molten iron by guiding the molten iron in the order of upward, horizontal and upward directions in a pouring basin provided in the mid-way of a spuot and subjecting the molten iron to the addition of a refining agent and the removal of the formed slag in the horizontal flow passage. CONSTITUTION:An immersion block 2 is inserted from above into the pouring basin 1 provided in the mid-way of the spout for guiding the molten iron to provide the downward flow passage 3, horizontal flow passage 4 and upward flow passage 5 for the molten iron. Projections 7, 8 are provided to the block 2 and a pressurizing gas is introduced from an introducing means 10 to form a space chamber 6 above the passage 4. The refining agent is blown together with the carrier gas into the molten iron from an adding means 9 in this state. The slag generated in the passage 4 is pulverized by the carrier gas and is discharged to the outside through a discharge pipe 11. The molten iron is thus continuously desiliconized, dephosphorized and desulfurized while the decarburization is suppressed. |
