The invention relates to a water-supply installation, of the so-called surge tank type, comprising a plurality of tanks, preferably cylindrical tanks, and an upright. The invention is characterised in that the tanks are dimensioned, to be precise at least in the transverse direction, in such a manner that they can be placed one inside the other, with the result that the space requirement of the tanks placed one inside the other is essentially the same as that of the largest of the tanks.
