摘要 In the testing of yarns, rovings and slivers, two quality features are of primary importance, namely non-uniformity and average fineness and its fluctuations. <??>According to the present invention, the determination of the two quality features takes place in the same operation and on the same random samples. For this purpose, on the one hand, a uniformity tester (1) known per se is used for determining the non-uniformity and fineness fluctuations, and on the other hand a balance (9) is used to determine the absolute average fineness. <??>The measured values resulting in the form of electrical signals are fed to a computer (12) which carries out the necessary computations of statistical characteristic values and which indicates these in an output module (13). The determination of predetermined lengths L of the portions of test material can be carried out either by means of a length measurement or by means of a time measurement. <??>Advantageously, portions of different makeup units (6), which are selected by a changer (3) and brought into position by means of an insertion arm (5), are supplied for testing, a severing device (4) coming into operation after the passage of the respective test length provided for each makeup unit. <IMAGE>
