The mechanism is shown in Fig. 1 of Sheet 1 of the drawing and comprises an internal gear A, a gear Z1 mounted inside of and eccentrically with respect to the latter, and a coupling unit V arranged between the two and comprising an endless flexible coupling element B toothed on both sides and two toothed rollers L1, L2 which guide the said coupling element and of which at least one is connected to a fixed web E. The rollers, the coupling elements and the gearwheels are arranged in such a way relative to one another that the coupling element B can accept a high buckling stress and can transmit the torque in compression and in tension. A variant furthermore provides a gear arranged concentrically in the internal gear and having a plurality of coupling units V arranged on the circumference, which are connected to the internal gear, and a fixed or rotatable web E arranged concentrically with respect to the internal gear A. To support the coupling element at the deflection location Um2 on the compression side, cup-like tapered washers C mounted concentrically or eccentrically with respect to the deflection roller externally surround and support the coupling element B with their rim R on both sides of the said roller L2, at the deflection location Um2. The mechanism offers the advantage of a high spatial power density in combination with low specific tooth loading. A thrust belt suitable for this mechanism is furthermore presented. <IMAGE>
