Arrangement for determining and displaying the fuel consumption in vehicles

An arrangement for determining and displaying the fuel consumption in vehicles with a multi-stage gearing and an injection pump is characterised by a sensor which supplies a measurement voltage which is proportional to the quantity of fuel injected and a computation circuit which multiplies the measurement voltage by a factor which corresponds to the respective effective transmission ratio of the gearing. The sensor supplies the measuring voltage, in particular by determining the position of the control rod of the injection pump. The output voltage of the computation circuit is displayed on a display device on a scale which is calibrated in litres per kilometre or in litres per hundred kilometres. As a result, a comparatively precise and nevertheless simple fuel consumption display is provided which is effective during travelling and displays consumption values related to distances covered.
