The support construction (10, 11), supporting the seat part (17) outside a vertical parallel projection of the seat surface (S), comprises a support element (support bar 10) which encloses an acute angle ( alpha ) with the vertical, in which support element a support arm is adjoined at the bottom which runs approximately parallel and is directly or indirectly provided with support rollers. By means of such a construction, adaptation and individual adjustment is possible with very little technical outlay, in that the seat part can be adjusted between an extremely low position, for example for six-year-olds, and a position which fulfils the seating requirements of adolescents up to an age of, for example, 18 years without having to neglect the support of the back.
