PURPOSE:To obtain a PVA type random copolymer superior in photosensitivity, dyability, etc., easily soluble in water, and suitable for manufacturing a colored filter, etc., by preparing a PVA type random copolymer contg. photosensitive structural units and dyable structural units and vinyl structural units. CONSTITUTION:A colored image is obtained by preparing a PVA type random copolymer contg. the following structural units; 0.2-10mol% photosensitive units each represented by formula I (X is pyridinium or the like), 1-10mol% dyable units represented by formula II (Y is a bivalent org. group or the like, and Z is trialkyl-alkylammonium or the like; and 98.8-80mol% vinyl units represented by formula III (R1 is acetyl or H) by reacting a compd. of formula IV and aldehyde of formula V with PVA in the presence of an acid catalyst, then, coating a support with this copolymer, patternwise exposing it to insolubilize it in water, and after development, immersing it into a dying bath to dye it. |
