PURPOSE:To ensure the interchangeability between an 8-mm. VTR and an 8-mm. standard video tape by setting the drum diameter at 1/2 8-mm. video standard together with a winding angle set about double as much as the standard level to the drum circumferential surface and at the same time revolving the drum at a speed double as high as the standard speed. CONSTITUTION:The diameters phi1 of both upper and lower drums 1a and 1b are set at 1/2 diameter phi0 of an 8-mm. video standard, i.e., 20mm.. The revolving speeds of two rotary heads 2a and 2b are set at double as high as the standard level, i.e., 60rpm. Then the winding angle theta1 of a magnetic tape 3 is set about 66 deg. to the circumferential surfaces of both drums 1a and 1b respectively. The angle theta1 can be freely set at >=66 deg.. However, the height H of both drums must be unfavorably increased as the angle theta1 is increased. The tape driving speed, the tape recording angle, etc. must be set at standard levels respectively in order to secure the interchangeability with an 8-mm. VTR. |
