Treatment of reaction product gas & apparatus therefor

The flow of the product gases in output ducting from a primary reactor is modulated secondary treatment fluids are injected to chemically react with the modulated flow gases. To achieve this a modulating device (24) is fitted to the output ducting (4) from the primary reactor. Turbulence caused by the device ensures that the secondary treatment fluids chemically react with the product gases. The product gases may be generated in the thermal treatment of a carbonaceous feedstock.
