<p>Novel beta -lactam penicillin or cephalosporin compounds having an alpha -amino or alpha -methylthio group are disclosed which are intermediates in the production of beta -lactam antibiotics having an alpha -formamido substituent on the carbon ring adjacent to the carbonyl group of the beta -lactam ring. These antibiotics are disclosed and claimed in UK Patent Application 8221059 (S.N. 2107307) from which this application is divided.</p> |
