The appts. (1) works in conjunction with an atom absorption spectro-photometer constituting a detector (3,4), and incorporates a micro-valve (7) which permits a changeover frequency of at least one per second. The valve connects a feed conduit (5) partly with a tube (11) connected to a container (12) holding sample solution, and partly a second tube (8) connected to a container (9) holding dilution or mixing fluid (10). A regulator (14) controls the micro-valve via pulses at a predetermined pulse frequency 1/T so that sample solution (13) is fed to the feed conduit (5) during a time t of each pulse cycle T in order to provide a dilution or mixing factor of t:T, where the pulse length t is variable to regulate the dilution or mixing factor. A second micro-valve may be used, controlled by a further regulator both regulators being controlled by a common computer. |
