Elastomer strip with a cross section in the form of a U internally defining a channel into which the edge of the element is inserted, the said strip comprising a metal reinforcing component embedded within the walls of the strip. At least of the arms 1 of the strip defining the channel 3 has a lip 7 and opposing lip 8 on its inside surface 6, the said lip 7 being integral with said arm 1 near the entrance to the channel 3 and reaching towards the inner most end 3a of the channel, in such a way that the free edge 7c of the said lip 7 is bent against the opposing lip 8, which is located towards the innermost end of the channel.
