Process for the Preparation of New Piperazinones and Their Use. Process for the preparation of new piperazinones of the general formula I -IMAGE- (I) wherein R1 denotes phenyl which is optionally substituted by alkoxy fluorine, alkoxyalkyl or dialkylaminoalkoxy; 2-thienyl; 3-pyridyl; and a radical of the formula II -IMAGE- (II) wherein R2, R3, R4, R5 and R6 have the meanings indicated in Claim 1 and their physiologically acceptable acid addition salts. Comprising reacting 5,6-dihydro-2(1H)-pyrazinones of the formula VIII -IMAGE- (VIII) wherein R1 has the meaning given above in a manner which is in itself known, with an alkylating or acylating agent of the formula IX X - R2 (IX) and then with an alkylating agent of the formula X X - R3 (X) wherein X is a radical which can be removed as an anion and R2 and R3 have the meanings given above with the exception of hydrogen. The piperazinones obtained according to the invention, of the formula ¢ and their physiologically acceptable salts are used for treating diseases which are characterized by a limitation of the cerebral function, particularly the memory performance, and also for lessening cerebral aging processes.
