PURPOSE:To attain a high rate of treatment of SOX by continuously measuring the temp. of exhaust gas in each of the wind boxes of a sintering apparatus at a position just under the grate and by carrying out control so that the temp. of exhaust gas in wind boxes contg. exhaust gas to be desulfurized among all of the wind boxes is adjusted to a specified range. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust gas is drawn from wind boxes 2 contg. exhaust gas having a high SOX concn. among all of the wind boxes 2 of a Dwight-Lloyd type sintering apparatus, and it is desulfurized. At this time, the temp. of exhaust gas in each of the boxes 2 at a position just under the grate is continuously measured with a thermometer placed in each of the boxes 2, and the temp. distribution of exhaust gas in the longitudinal direction of the sintering apparatus is estimated. Control is carried out so that a position at which the temp. of exhaust gas is 100-200 deg.C is positioned at the central wind box among the wind boxes contg. exhaust gas to be desulfurized, and exhaust gas from the wind boxes contg. exhaust gas to be desulfurized is desulfurized.
