PURPOSE:To improve the corrosion resistance by plating the outside of a base metal with gold or a gold alloy and rubbing the resulting layer by ultrasonic vibration to cause alloying and to make the layer crystalline. CONSTITUTION:The outside of a base metal such as silver or a silver alloy is plated with gold or a gold alloy to form a thin coating having an amorphous structure. This coating is rubbed by ultrasonic vibration to cause alloying and to make the coating crystalline. Thus, a material for electrical connection or contact or a contact material is obtd. The material has corrosion resistance to an external atmosphere of sulfide or chloride, and the contact is well kept even in the early stage.
