PURPOSE:To prevent a decrease in the capacity of a flat cell due to a long time storage by filling gaps between the fibers around the periphery of a nonwoven fabric which is placed between the stair-like section of the negative electrode can and the positive electrode active material. CONSTITUTION:For a periphery 24b of a nonwoven fabric 24, the fibers are mutually bonded or welded by direct heating, ultrasonic welding, or solvent welding. In the case of ultrasonic welding, for example, after the nonwoven fabric 24 is punched out, the periphery 24b is placed between the ring-shaped tips and ultrasonic-welded, then inserted into a negative electrode can 22 which contains a negative electrode active material 26 previously impregnated with electrolyte; and furthermore a separator 23 and a positive electrode active material 25 are inserted and fitted in a positive electrode can 21. Thus a cell is completed. In this way, it is possible to prevent a decrease in the capacity due to a long time storage. |
