Control pressure operates an adjuster valve and a regulator piston, which adjusts a hydraulic pump coupled to the power regulation system. The control pressure is determined by signals from the couplings that are to be changed over, to give a smooth change of rotary speed when the gear is changed. The supply pressure and the exhaust pressure (3, 4) from the couplings that are to be changed over are used as the switching pressures for the adjuster valve (5). Pressure modulation valves (9a, 10a) in the supply and exhaust lines determine the pressure-versus-time profile as switching occurs.
