The mounting for the handle or clasp of a purse or bag consists of two parts, each in the form of a U. A rod (36) is fixed along each free edge of the opening of the bag and is then put into a groove delimited by the mounting. The rod is L-shaped, in section, with one wing (38) to which the opening is fixed and a second wing (40:, perpendicular to this, which is put into the groove. The rod is notched in two places (42) to form a central part and two extreme parts which are bent to form hinges for the opening.
