PURPOSE:To enable printing quality with uniform density, by a method wherein a base of a thermal head is divided into a plurality of blocks, each of the blocks is provided with a temperature-detecting means, and highly accurate correction is performed in accordance with scattering of temperature. CONSTITUTION:The base of the thermal head is divided into a plurality of blocks so that adjacent blocks overlap on each other at a boundary part OL1, OL2, OL3 thereof, and the pulse width of a recording pulse impressed on each heating element at the overlapping part is corrected on the basis of resistances of thermistors provided respectively in the adjacent blocks. Accordingly, highly accurate correction can be performed even for the heating element provided at the boundary part of the adjacent blocks which is a blind point in the correction in the condition wherein the base is divided into the blocks, it is possible to obtain a correcting accuracy comparable to that in the case where about double number of thermistors are provided, and it is possible to obtain excellent printing quality with constantly uniform density. |
