PURPOSE:To attain ease of the operation of erasure designation and release and also to prevent number designation mistake by designating a file to be erased while using a display device and observing the directory of registered files. CONSTITUTION:When the operator gives an indication from an erasure mode indicating section 7, a file directory display control section 8 extracts only the file registered in a file device and the file directory is displayed on a display section 4. In erasing a file No.3 for example, a cursor moving section 10 receives an indication to descend the cursor by two lines. The moving section 10 moves the cursor to the No.3 position. Then erasure is indicated to an erasure indicating display/release display control section 12 by the erasure indicating key depression of an erasure indicating/release indicating section 11. The control section 12 receives the erasure indication so as to display a code * of the cursor position to a space code. Furthermore, in releasing the erasure designation, the release is indicated to the control section 12 again. The control section 12 receives the release indication and displays it while the code space of the cursor position is restored to the * code.
