PURPOSE:To obtain an encapsulated toner having stabilized triboelectrification characteristics even under high temp. and high humidity by using as a shell material a thermoplastic cationic polymer holding as counter ions bulky and hard anions, and coating core particles with it. CONSTITUTION:A cationic polymer is prepared by the (co)polymerization or the like of a cationic monomer, such as dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate or N- vinylcsrbazole. An acid contg. bulky and hard anions, such as HBF4 or HClO4, is added to this polymer in an org. solvent phase to cause anion exchange, and a thermoplastic cationic polymer holding bulky and hard anions as counter ions is prepared. An intended encapsulated toner is obtained by using this polymer as the shell material, and coating the core material made of polyethylene wax and colorant, etc. by the coacervation method or the like. |
