The invention makes it possible for all the possibilities of sounds, registers and effects of organs and synthesisers to be adapted to stringed instruments in general and to the guitar in particular. Thus conceived, the invention enables a guitar player to play on the neck keyboard by pressing on buttons in the same way as he would press down the guitar string. The instrument consists of a neck keyboard 1 on which are 15 identical bands 2 within which are 6 soft-touch buttons 3. It is possible to play arpeggios with the hand that does not form the chord by using 6 buttons 5 not on the neck keyboard 1 or to programme 4 the execution of the arpeggio in a given order 6. On this instrument are the rhythm unit 7, the registers and sounds 12 of different instruments, and the switches needed to operate it, such as on-and-off 8, and to adjust it, volume 9, base 10 and treble 11. <IMAGE>
