NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (X is O, S; A is halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy; R is F-substituted lower alkyl; m is 0-4). EXAMPLE:3-Chloro-4-(2,2,2-trifluoroethylthio)phenyl isocyanate. USE:Synthetic intermediate of benzoylurea derivative having insecticidal activity. PREPARATION:The reaction of a novel compound of formula II with another compound of formula III gives a compound of formula I . The reaction is conducted preferably in the presence of a solvent or diluent such as hexane, generally at about -20 deg.C to the boiling point of the reaction mixture, preferably under normal pressure. But, it can be done under elevated or reduced pressure. The compound of formula II is obtained by reaction of a compound of formula IV(M is H, alkali metal) with a compound of formula V (Z is phenyl, p-tolyl).
