The invention relates to a hot water heater for a boiler employing a heat-transfer fluid comprising a water tank 1 containing a tubular serpentine 4. The heater according to the invention is noteworthy in that the ends of the serpentine 4 are connected respectively to a cold water inlet 5 and a hot water outlet 6 while the tank is filled with the heat-transfer fluid of the boiler which can circulate through the tank between a heat-transfer fluid inlet 2 and outlet 3. Advantageously, the tubular serpentine is helical in form, it is positioned vertically inside the tank and it is surrounded at least partly by a cylindrical jacket 7 which is open at both ends. <IMAGE>
