The invention relates to a caravan of the rigid type. It is especially characterised in that it comprises a mechanical assembly composed of a longitudinal transmission shaft 13 which is rotationally moved and actuates similarly and jointly two transverse "winch" shafts themselves giving rise to the simultaneous erection, on the one hand, of the load-supporting panels 6 successively by means of drive pulleys 20, cables 30 and pivot brackets 27 and, on the other hand, with a delay time obtained by offset coupling devices consisting of relative plates with driving studs, of the longitudinal panels 5 successively by means of idler pulleys 24 and cables 33; the longitudinal stabilisation of the roof 7 which is raised at the same time as the load-supporting panels is provided by two racks joining the top of the load-supporting panels to a toothed wheel situated in the middle of the roof.
