PURPOSE:To produce a mixture containing a cycloalkanone and a cycloalkanol, by oxidizing a cycloalkane with O2 in the presence of a specific porphyrin complex as a catalyst, and decomposing the resultant cycloalkyl hydroperoxide. CONSTITUTION:A 5-12C cycloalkane is oxidized with O2 in the presence of a porphyrin complex of formula I (M is Co, Mn, Cr, or Fe; X is anionic ligand or electron-donative ligand; n is 0-2; R<1>-R<12> are H, alkyl, alkenyl, or alkylphenyl, or bonded together with the adjacent group) [e.g. the compound of formula II(R<14> is phytyl or H)] as a catalyst, and the obtained cycloalkyl hydroperoxide is decomposed to obtain a mixture of cycloalkanone and/or cycloalkanol (especially a mixture rich in cycloalkanone). |
