PURPOSE:To prevent change of engine operation with time and inconsistent operation of an engine due to mechanical errors, by correcting the output of a control position sensor on the basis of the data obtained by impressing a continuously varied current on an actuator associated with a speed control element before starting the engine. CONSTITUTION:When current is impressed on an actuator 3 from a battery 7 at the instant when a starter switch is turned ON for starting an engine and the duty ratio is raised instantaneously to 100% and then decreased continuously at a constant rate, a speed control element 2 is displaced to a maximum displacement position and stopped there. Then, the element 2 is moved to a zero-displacement position and stopped there. Here, output Ve of a control position sensor 4 that is varied with displacement of the element 2 is changed to the duty ratio and outputs at two turning points A, B provide correct outputs of the sensor 4 at the maximum displacement position and the zero- displacement position of the element 2. Since the above two points A, B are detected from the differential value of the output of the sensor 4 and the duty ratio of the actuator 3 and the output signal of the sensor 4 at the two points A, B can be obtained, it is enabled to prevent inconsistent operation of an engine by correcting them each time the engine is started. |
