According to the invention, the workpiece or the blank is attached to a base or the like in the bottom part of a press, where there are also bearing devices for a body rotatable about an axis parallel to the said edge of the base. The rotary body can be rotated by means of stops provided at the opposite press part and projections or the like which are rigidly connected to the rotary body and can be acted upon by the stops. By mutual approach of the press parts, the stop displaces the projections and thereby rotates the rotary body in such a way that a cutting-tool-like device attached to the same acts upon the workpiece and shears its marginal zone to form a cutting edge.
